Oshiomhole: Tinubu Offers Immediate Solution to Subsidy Removal Impact

    Published on

Former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has stated that President Bola Tinubu has a prompt solution to alleviate the consequences of the fuel subsidy removal.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Oshiomhole expressed confidence that the issues stemming from the subsidy removal would be swiftly resolved between the Federal Government and organized labor.

Oshiomhole emphasized that Tinubu recognizes the adverse effects of the subsidy withdrawal on Nigerians and is determined to take immediate action to mitigate them.

He stated, “This president acknowledges that the impact of the withdrawal is already being felt, and people are already experiencing discomfort. Therefore, there has to be an immediate solution to it.”

The former governor further mentioned that the discussions held indicate a realization that this matter cannot be delayed because it has a tangible negative impact, especially on the most vulnerable groups.

“We have a solution to it because there will be savings. So, we can use those savings or even consider borrowing. Whatever the case, we can leverage some revenue to improve wages and cushion the cost of living. I believe it is legitimate, doable, and not something that should take two to three months of negotiations,” Oshiomhole explained.

Oshiomhole, who formerly served as the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), participated in a meeting between the Federal Government and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Sunday
