At least five persons were reportedly killed on Saturday evening, September 19, 2026, following a shooting incident at Gana-Ropp in Ropp District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks reported across the state in the past week, with similar incidents recorded in Jos South, Riyom, Mangu, Bokkos and Barkin Ladi LGAs.
Sources indicate that the combined death toll from the week-long attacks may be up to 25, though the figure is yet to be officially confirmed by security agencies or the state government.
Earlier in the week, several persons were reportedly killed in Dungus, Jos South LGA, while other attacks were recorded in Mangu and other communities.
On Saturday, at least two persons were also said to have sustained injuries following an attack on Ndar village in Bokkos LGA, while gunshots were reportedly heard around Panyam in Mangu LGA.
As of press time, security agencies were yet to release a comprehensive statement on the casualty figures and the circumstances surrounding the attacks.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports circulating in some communities claim sightings of armed men on motorcycles moving around the southern axis of Jos, with fears of possible further attacks in parts of Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Mangu.
Authorities have yet to confirm the report, and residents have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement to security agencies.
