‎A philanthropist, Chief David Kente, has announced the establishment of annual endowment funds for Mass Communication students at the Federal University, Wukari, and Taraba State University, Jalingo, in honour of the late veteran journalist, Chief Ben Adaji.

‎Kente made the announcement on Thursday during Adaji’s burial ceremony at Imani, Olomaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.

‎The politician said the initiative was part of efforts to immortalise the late media practitioner, and support the development of journalism education in the region.

‎According to the businessman, the funds will be disbursed annually to assist outstanding students in the Mass Communication faculties of the two institutions.

‎He also pledged continued support for Adaji’s family to help cushion the impact of their loss.

‎Speaking at the event, the Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, represented by Mr Gabriel Yough, encouraged the bereaved family and the people of Imani to find comfort in God, noting that life and death remains in the Creator’s hands.

‎Yough, who is the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Taraba State, described Adaji’s death as a significant loss to the journalism profession, saying Taraba had lost one of its pillars in media practice.

‎Adaji, who passed away after a distinguished journalism career spanning over 30 years, was widely respected for his contributions to the media industry and public service.
