The Taraba State All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate, Hon Danjuma Usman Shiddi, has been honoured with the ‘Most Humanitarian Personality of the Year 2026’ award at the World Widows Day commemoration organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocacy Network (IAWPA).
The award, presented in Abuja, recognised Shiddi’s humanitarian interventions and sustained support for widows, women, orphans, and youth empowerment across Nigeria.
According to IAWPA, a participant in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC 30511), Shiddi was selected for his commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable groups while promoting peace, social development, and community resilience.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Shiddi — popularly known as ‘Danji SS’ — was credited with implementing people-focused initiatives during his time in the National Assembly, including: skills acquisition programmes, microcredit schemes, and empowerment projects that benefited hundreds of women, widows, orphans, and young people in Taraba State.
The award ceremony was held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall of Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, as part of activities marking the 2026 World Widows Day celebration. The event attracted representatives of non-governmental organisations, peace advocacy groups, women’s organisations, and other stakeholders committed to promoting peace and addressing gender-based violence.
The 2026 commemoration was themed, ‘Restoring hope and dignity to widows for a peaceful society.’
