Students across Nigeria commemorated Democracy Day with rallies, seminars, and other civic engagement activities to celebrate 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in the country.
The nationwide events provided a platform for students to reflect on Nigeria’s democratic journey, assess the gains of democratic rule, and discuss the critical roles of education, youth participation, and good governance in national development.
During the various activities, participants expressed support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting the impact of student-centered initiatives, particularly the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). According to the students, the scheme is expanding access to higher education by providing financial assistance to eligible students across the country.
Speakers at the rallies and seminars emphasized the need to uphold democratic values, strengthen institutions, and create more opportunities for young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to nation-building. They also underscored the importance of investing in education as a catalyst for sustainable development and national prosperity.
