The NNPC Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of NNPC Ltd., has significantly enhanced diagnostic healthcare capacity in Nigeria by commissioning a fully installed, state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system to the National Orthopaedic Hospital (NOH) in Dala, Kano State.

This initiative aligns with NNPC Ltd.’s ongoing commitment to improve healthcare access and strengthen medical infrastructure across the nation. The new MRI system is expected to revolutionize the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions, including orthopaedic, neurological, trauma, musculoskeletal, and gynaecological issues.

Prior to this intervention, patients requiring advanced MRI diagnostic services often faced long travel distances, extended waiting times, and delays in care due to the high costs and limited availability of such services.

During the commissioning ceremony held at the hospital, Mrs. Emmanuella Arukwe, Managing Director of NNPC Foundation, represented the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd. She emphasized the strategic importance of this donation in contributing to national healthcare development.

“At NNPC Limited, we are intentional about ensuring that our social investments are impactful, sustainable, and beneficial to the communities we serve. Through the NNPC Foundation, we will continue to implement interventions that create measurable social value across Nigeria,” she stated.

Mrs. Sophia Mbakwe, Executive Vice President of Business Services at NNPC Ltd., echoed these sentiments, highlighting the commitment of the company to positively impact lives beyond its core business of crude oil production. She noted that the donation aims to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the quality of life for the people of Kano State and all Nigerians reliant on the National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Kano State Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by Commissioner for Health Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, praised the NNPC Foundation for the donation, calling it a significant milestone for healthcare services in the region.

Dr. Isa Nurudeen, Chief Medical Director of the hospital, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that it will transform the hospital’s operations and enhance its service delivery.

The event was attended by various stakeholders, including representatives from NNPC Ltd., hospital management, healthcare professionals, community leaders, and government officials.

This intervention marks a pivotal step towards addressing the challenges of healthcare access and quality in Nigeria.
