    Amawbia Set for Grand Coronation of New Traditional Ruler, Igwe Uchenna Okonkwo

    The Amawbia community in Anambra State is set to witness a colourful coronation ceremony as the Town Union formally invites the public to the installation of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Uchenna Sunday Okonkwo, the Okpaligwe of Amawbia.

    The historic event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Eziokpaligwe Square, Amawbia, by 12 noon, with preparations already underway for a large turnout of dignitaries, traditional leaders, and political figures.

    The ceremony will be graced by the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, who is billed as Special Guest of Honour.

    Also expected at the event are prominent political and public office holders including the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chukwuma Pius Okoye; Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh; and Member of the House of Representatives for Awka North and South, Lilian Oby Orogbu.

    Others expected include the Director-General of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Nonso Okeke; former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Willie Nwokoye; and former National Chairman of APGA, Victor Ike Oye.

    According to the invitation signed by the Coronation Committee, the event will also feature notable community leaders and sponsors including Arch. Nnaemeka Anyora Maduka and Nze Chukwuka Odumodu, who serves as President General of Amawbia Town Union.

    The coronation committee, chaired by Hon. Joseph Igwebuike with Comrade Akonam Dijeh as secretary, said the ceremony is expected to celebrate tradition, unity, and the cultural heritage of Amawbia people.

    Security arrangements, cultural displays, and traditional rites are expected to form key highlights of the event as the community ushers in a new reign.
