    President Buhari Decries Fake News Assures Citizens of Improved Security

    President Muhammadu Buhari has decried the rate at which fake news is being disseminated in the Country saying such misinformation is fuelling insecurity in the country.The President opined this at an event tagged ,Citizens Summit for National Integration Peace and Security” organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations NIPR in Association with it’s partners.Buhari who was represented by the Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed said, “I want to use this occasion to ask that we stop promoting fake news especially in the social media”. There was heavy presence of security at the International Conference Centre Abuja, venue of the event when Daily Newscraft got there. The President identified that there is a nexus between fake news and insecurity.Buhari commended the Armed Forces and other Security agencies while reassuring the Citizenry that Government will”Speak the Language Criminals understand” to them and insecurity will be brought to the barest minimum. In his own remarks Honourable Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives said all arms of government are doing their best but there is a dearth of partnership. “The Executive Arm of Government is trying. We in the Legislative Arm are also doing our best. What is lacking is partnership. We need to partner and build confidence in the Citizenry”, he said. .
