IMPLEMENTATION OF CASHLESS POLICY IN ALL NIGERIAN AIRPORT BY FAAN FROM 1 MARCH 2026

    Published on

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is implementing a fully cashless and contactless payment system across all airport payment points nationwide, with full enforcement beginning March 1, 2026.

This initiative, branded as “Operation Go Cashless” is designed to eliminate physical cash transactions, enhance security, increase revenue, and provide a seamless, modern experience for travellers.

    Key Aspects of the Implementation

    Effective date. 1st March 2026
Scope of Coverage: The cashless policy applies to all revenue points, including:

    1. Airport Access Gates (Toll gates)
    2. Car Parks
    3. VIP/Protocol Lounges

Method of Payment: Users are required to use electronic channels, including card payments (POS) and “Go-Cashless” cards, which can be acquired at all FAAN commercial offices and access gates.

Partnership: The system is deployed in partnership with Paystack to manage the payment gateway.
Revenue Assurance: The initiative is meant to block revenue leakages and comply with the Federal Government’s directive for all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to use the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

    Transition and Support

On-site Support: FAAN has deployed trained brand ambassadors at access gates and terminals to assist users with onboarding and, in some cases, to provide guidance on obtaining and using the new cards.

Partnership with Banks Starting March 16, 2026, Go-Cashless cards will also be available at designated branches of Fidelity Bank Plc.

    Advisory
Due to the new implementation, travellers are experiencing traffic gridlock at the access gate

    1. Make sure you leave your house 2-3hrs before your ETD to avoid missing your flight.
    2. Ask your cab driver if he has the new access card for easy entry.
