‘Lawmakers Rely on God’ – Godswill Akpabio Affirms

    Published on

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has said that in all, lawmakers will always depend on God Almighty to carry out their responsibilities in the Hallowed Chambers.

Speaking during the commissioning of the National Assembly chapel in Abuja on Sunday, Akpabio said God is the only one who makes immutable laws and writes them into the very pages of nature.

He also described God as one through whom all laws made by men are measured, judged and sustained

His words, “For before there were parliaments, He spoke order into chaos. Before there were constitutions, He established justice in the foundations of the earth and inscribed His will upon the conscience of humanity.

“And unless the laws of men reflect the justice of God, they may command obedience, but they will never command reverence nor shape destiny,” Akpabio said.

The Senate president also affirmed that the chapel is a testimony that nations cannot function by power alone but by endurance and abiding by the principles of faith.

Stating that America today stands as a global superpower because it trusts in God, Akpabio urged lawmakers to ensure they are always guided by conscience, anchored in righteousness, and inspired by prayer.

He also appreciated the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu for her committment and efforts towards ensuring the completion of the National Assembly chapel.

“This Chapel shall stand as a moral compass in the machinery of governance. Here, lawmakers will seek wisdom before exercising legislation. Here, conscience will be strengthened, and hope will be renewed.

It shall remain a constant reminder that above every earthly authority stands the sovereignty of Almighty God,” he added.
