…Charges the Chairmen to make good use of the equipment
The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has been widely commended for the procurement and distribution of 54 units of heavy-duty construction equipment (including caterpillars/graders, excavators, and rollers) to the 18 local government councils in the state by Hon. Ikponmwosa Clement Aitusi, a frontline aspirant for Ikpoba/Okha local government council.
The equipment was officially handed over on February 23, 2026.
The equipment, according to Hon. Aitusi is intended to boost rural road construction, drainage rehabilitation, environmental waste disposal, and other community-driven infrastructure development.
The frontline local government council aspirant said the initiative aims to move development beyond the state capital to rural communities and improve the capacity of local governments to deliver on their mandates.
The machines were commissioned by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), HE Nyesom Wike, who commended the Governor’s focus on grassroots development.
Hon. Ikponmwosa Clement Aitusi tasked the local government chairmen, particularly the acting chairman of Ikpoba/Okha local government, with maintaining the equipment and using them for the public good rather than storing them.
This move is part of the administration’s “SHINE Agenda,” aimed at bringing practical governance and infrastructure renewal to the grassroots level.
