    Professor Ibileye assumes office as 4th VC of Federal university Lokoja

    Professor Gbenga Ibileye on Friday formally resumes as the fourth Vice-Chancellor of the Federal university, Lokoja.

    This follows the expiration of the the tenure of Professor Olayemi Akinwumi who officially bowed out earlier in the day.

    Speaking shortly after being handed the mantle, the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Ibileye spelt out his vision for the institution.

    “My vision is to transform the University into a world-class institution distinguished by academic excellence, cutting -edge research, innovation and societal impact while nurturing globally competitive students and staff in an enabling environment defined by transparency, inclusiveness and collaboration. This vision is anchored in a clear mission:to enhance academic quality and strenghten research capacity; expand infrastructural development and digital transformation , promote global partnerships,innovation, and entrepreneurship; foster inclusiveness staff development, and student welfare;and deepen community engagement and sustainable development initiatives.” He added.

    The new Vice-Chancellor emphasised that academic will remain core identity of his administration, declaring ” accreditation standards will be strenghtened; market – relevant programmes in emerging fields will be introduced thoughtfully.”

    Ibileye stressed that no Vice- Chancellor succeeds alone while no administration prospers without cooperation, insisting ” My goal is to strenghten this University as a system, one that functions through clear processes, shared responsibility, and institutional discipline.

    A strong University works because its structures are sound, not because individuals are present. This institution belongs to all of us. Its reputation is our shared inheritance. Its progress is our joint obligation.”

    The institution’s Pro-Chnacellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Zubairu Abdallah, in his remarks, assured Ibileye of council’s support, warning however that the council appreciates accountability, transparency and team work.
