Nigerians are sufficiently afflicted – Mahdi Shehu laments Tinubu’s N34bn foreign trips

    Published on

Mahdi Shehu has criticised President Bola Tinubu over reports that the Presidency spent more than N34 billion on foreign travel within two years, describing it as “heartless governance.”

Shehu made the comments in a post shared on X on Monday while reacting to a report which claimed that the presidency spent not less than N34.39 billion on foreign exchange purchases for international trips and related official duties over a 24-month period.

Shehu said the development showed a lack of concern for the suffering Nigerians.

“This is heartlessness in governance,” he wrote.

He also described the spending as governance terrorism, democratic robbery, and political banditry.

He added that it amounted to economic sabotage and was immoral and indecent.

According to him, the situation reflects a deliberate misuse of public resources, explaining what he called infinite local and foreign missteps.

Shehu went further to describe the spending as a crime against humanity and a deliberate resource obliteration.

“Even angels in heaven will put a continuous curse on this recklessness. Nigerians are sufficiently afflicted,” he said.
