The Bitaro community in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State has issued an urgent appeal to the state government over worsening security, poor road infrastructure, and abandoned projects that are endangering lives and livelihoods.

Community leaders, under the umbrella of the Bitaro National Community Development Association (BINCODEA), raised the alarm in a recent statement, describing the situation as dire and unsustainable.

The National President of BINCODEA, Mr. Lawrence Philip Doribi, said residents are living under constant threat due to neglect of basic infrastructure and rising insecurity.

“Our community is suffering. We face life-threatening situations daily because of bad roads, abandoned projects, and increasing criminal activities,” Doribi said.

Access to healthcare has become one of the most critical challenges. According to the General Secretary of BINCODEA, Hon. Peter Yarima, the deplorable condition of roads linking Bitaro to Kwoi General Hospital has led to avoidable deaths, particularly among pregnant women and emergency patients.

“The roads are completely non-motorable. Women in labor and other emergency cases struggle to reach the hospital on time, and this has resulted in unnecessary loss of lives,” Yarima explained.

Security concerns are also escalating. Mallam Likita Sani Gigin, the Madakin Bitaro and representative of the Village Head, revealed that armed robbery incidents have become frequent in the area.

“Just recently, three motorcycles were stolen in broad daylight. These attacks have left families frightened and economically vulnerable,” he said.

Residents also expressed concern over an abandoned bridge project that once served as a major link to neighboring communities. The collapsed structure has turned the route into what locals describe as a “death trap,” with repeated reports of accidents, loss of lives, and destruction of property. Adding to the problem, thieves are now vandalizing the abandoned project by cutting and stealing iron materials, further worsening the situation.

The community is calling on the Kaduna State government to urgently intervene by rehabilitating roads, completing abandoned projects, and strengthening security in the area.

Local leaders say timely government action will not only save lives but also restore confidence, safety, and improved living conditions for the people of Bitaro.
