Dantalle returns as IPAC elects new leadership

    Published on

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has returned Dr Yusuf Mamman Dantalle as chairman, following Monday’s 2025 national election held at the council’s national secretariat, Abuja.

The council also elected Hajiya Zainab Ibrahim who emerged Deputy National Chairman, Barr. Maxwell Mgbudem was reelected the National Secretary, and Maryam Garba Bagel the Deputy National Secretary.

The Council’s National Treasurer is Dr Dipo Olayoku while Chinyere Kalu is National Organising Secretary

Others are: Dr Umar Mohammed, National Financial Secretary; Martins Egbeola, National Publicity Secretary; Barr. Obed Agu, National Legal Adviser.

In his acceptance speech, Dantalle said he was humbled by the confidence leaders of political parties reposed in him by renewing his mandate for another two years.

He described his re-election as coming through a free, fair, credible, transparent, acceptable and peaceful process without rancour.

“You have spoken loud and clear with your votes for continuity of the programmes, projects and actions we jointly undertook in the last two years you graciously entrusted to me the leadership of IPAC on 15th December 2023.

“Today’s election is a victory for sustainable democracy and development in IPAC and the nation. It is our collective victory and a triumph of hope for a better, greater and brighter Inter Party Advisory Council.

“I also congratulate all contestants who won their elections. We participated in this crucial election as one family, and we remain one big political family.

“Esteemed leaders of Political Parties, you will recall that in December 2023, l promised to establish the Directorates of Women, Youth and Persons With Disabilities. That promise was kept. Today, we have vibrant Directorates of Women, Youth and Persons With Disabilities.

“Our Executive reviewed the IPAC Code of Conduct and transformed it into a Constitution that is binding to all registered political parties in Nigeria. A significant provision of the Constitution is the twining concept, to promote inclusivity. Thus, where a male person is elected or appointed into a substantive office as a principal, the deputy shall be a female person and vice versa.

“Our Executive also packaged a book – 100 Years of Political Parties Evolution In Nigeria which was launched on 30th January 2025, in Abuja. The production of IPAC’s Two-and-Half Decades of Unbroken Democracy (a movie) is ongoing.

“IPAC will keep growing from strength to strength as we collaborate with stakeholders and citizens to build a strong, virile, united, equitable and inclusive democratic nation. The tasks ahead are enormous, by God’s grace we will surmount them and build a better society future generations will be proud of,” he said.
