    Kogi varsity charges graduands to live up to appellation as change agents

    The graduating students of Salem University,Lokoja had charged the graduating students of the school to let their behavior reflect their appellation as change agents as they step out into the world.

    The Acting Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Bishop Enobong Etteh gave the charge on Saturday in an address delivered at the 7th convocation ceremony held at the University campus in Lokoja,the Kogi state capital.

    Etteh said that the vision of the founding father of the University , Archbishop Sam Amaga which centered on breeding crop of intellectuals that will bring about positive change in our society must be sustained by the new graduands.

    “Salem University remains a manifestation of the divine educational vision of Archbishop (Dr.) Sam Amaga, President of Salem International Christian Centre. It was founded to raise leaders who are spiritually grounded, intellectually alert, and socially responsible”.

    According to him,”the transformation of the vision begins with the crop of staff at the disposal of the institution: well-founded, well-grounded, and committed and dedicated towards the development of the overall person”. Bishop Enobong Etteh added.

    “Our graduates, who are indeed change agents, are equipped to transform their world. Dr. Amaga saw that a tree does not make a forest that he constituted men and women into a council that will see to the exact interpretation and translation of the dream and vision into this tangible reality that is this university today”.

    The chairman of Council said this year’s Convocation under the theme “The Release of Change Agents”, we celebrate the graduation of a total of 172 students from undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

    “These Change Agents have been found worthy both in learning and in character and are hereby sent out as Ambassadors of this university.

    The university has done its best for the global leaders; it is now up to the new brand of change agents to live up to what the society at large demands of them.

    Being brought up in the way you have been these last couple of years, you have no alternative, dear graduands, but to show to the world what stuff you are made of: it is in order to make you exceptional that your training and formation in character, morals and learning have been exceptional; let your exploits declare your worth as you depart this environment”.

    Salem University, Lokoja is a privately owned university located in Lokoja, Kogi State was founded by Archbishop Sam Amaga, the president of Salem International Christian Center in 2007. The University has vision of producing graduate with sound knowledge and spiritual body of leadership to contribute to global impact.
