Former Special Assistant on Media to ex–Vice President Namadi Sambo, Umar Sani, has said the defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not shake the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as “swimming against the tide.”
Speaking on Arise News on Wednesday, Sani said, “I can assure you that the defection of Mbah to APC will not rattle the PDP because he is swimming against the tide.”
He dismissed reports of an internal crisis within the PDP, insisting that the party’s current challenges were “externally induced.”
“The PDP is not shaken or bothered by these induced crises. What is happening within the party is the voice of Jacob and the hand of Esau,” he said. “It’s something coming from outside, using instruments within to create confusion and chaos.”
Sani maintained that while there may be leadership issues at the national level, the PDP remains firmly rooted in the states, particularly Enugu, where its dominance remains unbroken.
“The party is not domiciled at the headquarters. We only have leadership issues, not structural ones. Enugu State has been PDP since 1999, and that remains unchanged,” he stated.
