The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has rewarded two standout performers from the 2024/25 season with ₦2 million each.

Nasarawa United striker Anas Yusuf, who finished top scorer with 18 goals, and Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede, who guided his side to a historic first NPFL title, both received the award. Remo Stars sealed the championship with 71 points, becoming the first privately-owned South-West club since 2000 to lift the trophy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau—represented by Secretary-General Dr. Mohammed Sanusi—praised the NPFL’s progress.

“The league is improving week in and week out. Instead of castigating it, let us support it. The growth is obvious, and the NFF fully supports what the NPFL board is doing,” Sanusi said.

NPFL Chairman Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye added that consistency has restored confidence among private-sector partners.

Yusuf, meanwhile, described the award as fresh motivation:

“I’m happy to be recognised. This pushes me to do more—I hope to score more than 20 goals next season.”
