    PDP moving beyond squabbles -Onyia

    Published on

A Board of Trustees member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ejiofor Onyia, has declared that the party is finally emerging from years of internal crises and repositioning itself to serve Nigerians more effectively.

Speaking on ARISE NEWS after the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, Onyia expressed optimism that recent caucus and NEC sessions reflected renewed unity and commitment to founding ideals.

“One thing is certain: the PDP is coming around. We are exiting our time of squabbles and coming back together to serve the nation as we did before,” he said.

Onyia revealed that a constitutional review committee had been set up to correct loopholes that had previously sparked disputes — particularly the controversial amendment changing the requirement for officeholders seeking elective positions from “shall resign” to “may resign.”

Beyond legal adjustments, Onyia stressed reconciliation as central to the party’s revival.
“For political purposes, we need to allow everyone to show remorse and return to the fold, then pursue the party’s collective goals,” he said.

He added that disagreements were not inherently destructive but a sign of members’ commitment to the party’s survival.
