The President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Dr. Faruk Rabi’u Mudi, has pledged that the association will intensify efforts to make farming inputs more accessible and affordable for Nigerian farmers, particularly fertilizer, in a bid to strengthen food production across the country.

Dr. Mudi made the commitment during a live interview on Freedom Radio 99.5 FM Kano on Friday, August 22, 2025, in the morning program Barka da Hantsi hosted by journalist Salisu Baffayo.

According to him, AFAN under his leadership is working closely with government stakeholders to develop policies and strategies that will ensure farmers receive timely support. He stressed that reducing the cost and improving the availability of fertilizer remains central to boosting Nigeria’s agricultural output.

“We are in continuous discussions with government representatives to secure relief for our farmers, especially regarding fertilizer and other key agricultural inputs,” Dr. Mudi said.

He noted that AFAN is currently driving a nationwide registration campaign to capture both large-scale and smallholder farmers into its database. This, he explained, will allow the association to better understand the challenges facing farmers in different regions and address them more effectively.

Speaking on insecurity, which has disrupted farming activities in several parts of Nigeria, Dr. Mudi said AFAN is collaborating with security agencies to protect farmers and safeguard farmlands.

“We are working day and night to ensure farmers in troubled areas are provided with adequate security to continue their activities,” he assured.

Dr. Mudi concluded by announcing that AFAN is preparing to introduce new initiatives designed to simplify agricultural practices and provide farmers with modern tools and resources. He promised that fertilizer and other critical inputs will soon be available at more affordable prices to ease the burden on farmers nationwide.
