Don Jazzy Explains Why Modern Marriages Struggle to Last

    Published on

Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy has stirred reactions online after sharing a humorous take on why many modern marriages appear to end faster than those of earlier generations.

In a video that quickly gained attention on social media, the head of Mavin Records used wedding cakes as a playful way to compare relationships in the past with those of today.

He explained that in earlier times, couples often used fruit cakes prepared with alcohol for their weddings.

According to his explanation, those cakes were known to last for a very long period, sometimes up to a year, allowing couples to preserve part of the cake and eat it again during their first wedding anniversary.

He suggested that the long-lasting nature of those cakes symbolically reflected the endurance of marriages during that era.

The music producer then contrasted this with modern wedding trends, noting that many couples now prefer butter or ice-cream-style cakes that spoil quickly if not properly stored.

He humorously implied that the short lifespan of such cakes mirrors the shorter duration seen in some present-day marriages.

He also drew attention to the decorative style of many modern wedding cakes, pointing out that some are heavily designed with artificial materials while only a small portion is edible.
