Nigerian urged to get PVCs for 2027 polls

    Published on

As the 2027 general elections in Nigeria is gaining momentum, a non-denominational Christian group, Christian Conscience (CC), has urged citizens to discard the politics of hatred and bitterness.

The group instead admonished Nigerians to use the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and prepare to vote.

The advice was contained in a statement jointly signed on Thursday by the Chairman, Dr. Mrs. Yetunde Akinluyi, and the Secretary, Revd. Dr. Kolawole Verrals.

The statement encouraged citizens to participate actively in the electoral process, describing their votes as the primary instrument for genuine change.

Christian Conscience also noted that it has been observing public discourse with keen interest, particularly discussions surrounding the 2027 elections.

The group emphasised that the current government of President Bola Tinubu has only spent two years in office and should be given the space to govern for the love of the nation. It reminded Nigerians that it is God who anoints leaders.

The group further clarified that any desperate coalition or politically motivated group cannot bring about a change in government. True change, it stressed, can only be effected by a genuine and active voting populace.

Speaking on the matter, the Director of Publicity for the Christian Conscience Group, Tunji Oguntuase, issued a call to action to all citizens.

“We have watched with keen interest public discourse on what should happen in the 2027 general elections. The present government of Asiwaju Tinubu has just spent two years in office, the coalition is in earnest. We should allow governance to run for the love of the Nation. After all, it’s only God that enthrones leaders,” the statement read.

The group concluded its appeal by reiterating the importance of the PVC, urging all eligible Nigerians to collect it, as it remains the most powerful instrument for change, and to vote when the time comes.
