The Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Energies, Osa Igiehon, has emphasised the importance of Africa defining its energy future by utilising its hydrocarbons and renewable resources.

Igiehon spoke during a fireside chat at the Namibia Oil and Gas Conference 2025, affirming Heirs Energies’ commitment to Africa’s energy sufficiency through participation in global energy forums and strategic collaborations.

“For Africa to grow, Africans have to take hold of their future. We operate within a world that offers a lot of opportunity and help, but we must be accountable for countries and our future. No one else is going to do it for us,” he added.

In a statement on Tuesday, Igiehon highlighted the company’s impactful presence at two landmark events: the U.S.–Africa Energy Forum (USAEF) in Houston, Texas, and the Namibia International Oil and Gas Conference 2025.

According to him, the events allowed Heirs Energies to showcase its responsible strategy to harness Africa’s natural resources, ensuring energy security, driving industrialization, and fostering shared prosperity across the continent.

“At Heirs Energies, we are committed to energy sufficiency for millions, while prioritising sustainability, innovation, and local capacity building as pillars of our growth,” he said.

The CEO of Heirs Energy stated that the forum enabled deeper engagement with U.S. investors, technology providers, and agencies on financing and innovation to accelerate Africa’s path towards energy independence.

Reflecting on Namibia’s opportunities, he stated: “This visit marks the start of a long-term partnership, with more collaborations ahead to boost Namibia’s energy development.”

He further remarked that the involvement of Heirs Energies highlights its transformation from a Nigerian enterprise into a pan-African leader, adeptly harmonizing commercial success with societal influence.

In his view, these initiatives exemplify Africapitalism, championed by the company’s founder, Mr. Tony Elumelu, which promotes the pivotal role of the private sector in spearheading Africa’s development.
