Nigeria’s teenage cycling sensation, Osaretin Ogie, has claimed gold in the road race at the ongoing Africa Schools Championship in Algeria, adding to her growing legend.
The 17-year-old Edo-born athlete, who previously clinched gold in the 200m sprint at the Gateway Games in Abeokuta, was in unstoppable form once again—this time trading her running spikes for a bicycle.
At the African Track Championships in Cairo earlier this year, Ogie grabbed three gold medals in the junior category. Now, she’s proven her versatility and dominance on a continental stage.
President of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN), Engr. Giandomeneco Massari, beamed with pride as he confirmed the victory.
“Let me inform you that our athlete, Osaretin, won gold today in the road race,” he said. “We are proud of her exploits and her representation of Nigeria.”
