Picking VP from North-West, too risky for Tinubu –Baba-Ahmed

    Published on

Former Political Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, on Wednesday said it’s too risky for the President to pick his Vice President from the North West.

Baba-Ahmed, however, hinted that Tinubu could pick his Vice President from Kano State.

Featuring on Channels Television, Baba-Ahmed said that should Tinubu think of changing his Vice President, it could potentially cause discontent among Muslims.

He said: “The President cannot go to the North West because the late Buhari just finished his eight years; going to the North West is a bit risky.

“However, if he wants, he can go to Kano, but the gap between the NNPP and APC in Kano in 2023 is just 500k.

“For the population of Kano, that is not too much. So, what do you gain if you pick somebody from Kano compared to what you lose if a lot of people vote against your party?”

There have been permutations that Tinubu could pick another Vice-Presidential candidate ahead of 2027.

Amid these permutations, Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, has been identified as a possible choice.

A few days ago, Kwankwaso was sighted at the Presidential Villa for an event which had Vice President Kashim Shettima as the Speaker. After the event, Kwakwanso did not speak to journalists.
