WAFCON 2025: Ajibade sends strong message to NFF

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade has delivered a clear message to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), urging the body to ensure proper support for the team ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Ajibade, who will lead Nigeria into the continental showpiece next month, said the players are fully focused on winning a record-extending 10th title but stressed that off-field support will be crucial to their success.

“There’s a lot of confidence in camp, and we’re committed to our goal. We all understand what’s at stake,” Ajibade said on The Super Falcons Show.

“Every player heading to the tournament wants to compete and win. We will give everything on the pitch, but we also know that success depends on both internal and external factors.

We hope everything behind the scenes is properly handled to help us perform at our best and ultimately bring the trophy home.”

Nigeria remains Africa’s top-ranked women’s team, but growing competition from the continent’s emerging powers means the journey to reclaim the title will not be easy.

South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, who defeated Nigeria in the group stage in 2022 before going on to win their first title, will enter the tournament as reigning champions.

Meanwhile, hosts Morocco, who eliminated Nigeria on penalties in the 2022 semi-finals, are tipped as one of the favourites this time around.
