Comedian Efe Warriboy blasts Benue governor over Tinubu’s visit

    Published on

In a video shared on his Instagram page, the entertainer called out Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for declaring Wednesday, June 18, a public holiday to welcome President Bola Tinubu — just days after over 200 residents were brutally killed in the Yelewata massacre.

The Benue State Government encouraged residents to “come out en-masse” for the president’s one-day visit, but Efe described this decision as “a mockery of the bereaved.”

He said: “Regardless of your title — Reverend Father or Senior Pastor — once you get power in Nigeria, a demon enters you. And once you join APC, it gets worse.” Calling the holiday declaration “nonsense,” he questioned why a governor whose people are in mourning would prioritise political optics.

“A man lost 20 family members. Yet the most important thing to the governor is welcoming Tinubu? The president is supposed to sneak into the state, not expect heroic welcomes. Is he coming to commission projects or dead bodies?”

Efe went further to accuse Governor Alia of “playing politics with people’s lives” just to secure a second-term ticket in 2027. “Even if politicians have signed a deal with a foreign company to reduce Nigeria’s population, must you rub it in people’s faces?”

He ended by praising former Governor Samuel Ortom for being “vocal” during his tenure and expressing disappointment in Governor Alia, whom many expected to do better because of his religious background.
