    14 persons, 22 cows died in Kebbi ghastly motor accident

    A ghastly motor vehicle accident has claimed the lives of 14 passengers and 22 cows along Jega/Koko road in Kebbi State.

    In a statement signed and by the police public relations officer (PPRO) of Kebbi State Police Command SP Nafi’u Abubakar said the accident which involved two trucks occurred at about 5:30 pm on Monday 12th December, 2022.

    SP Nafi’u explained that, a truck with Reg. No. SRZ 518 XS, Sokoto State, drove by yet to be identified driver, conveying passengers and cows from Illela local government area of Sokoto State in route to Lagos State hit a another truck parked by the roadside (shoulder) at Dada village, Koko/Besse local government area of the State which resulted to the death of fourteen passengers and 22 cows.

    According to him, the state commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora instantly rushed to the scene and evacuated the victims to General hospital koko, for treatment, where a medical Doctor confirmed death of the fourteen (14) Parsons, while the remaining victims were receiving medical attention.

    The PPRO noted that CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora also prayed for the repose of the departed souls, have an eternal rest and their immediate families to have fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

    However, the CP called on the NURTW, NARTO and other road users to always ensure they employ adequate safety measures in their vehicles, observe speed limit, avoid recklessness, drive carefully and be conscious while driving especially during the festive period with a view to preventing future recurrence.
