    2023 Election:AIG, zone 8 tasks Kogi command on human rights of electorates,power misuse.

    The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 8 Headquarters, AIG ASAFA ADEKUNLE has charged officers and men of Kogi state Command to ensure that, they protect the fundamental human rights of all the electorates and prevent misuse of powers.

    Ashafa stated this while on a familiarisation your to the command on Tuesday.

    He further charged the officers to to ensure the safety and security of all persons and properties that will be involved, before, during and after the voting exercise.

    “The duties of the Nigeria Police is to ensure due enforcement of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as the Electoral laws”. He said.

    He cautioned the personnel of the Kogi Command to exhibit high degree of professionalism and sustain Police primacy in securing the entire electoral process.

    The AIG also had an Interactive Session with the stakeholders such as Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Community Leaders, Religion Leaders, towards building a peaceful environment for all.

    He urged the stakeholders to volunteer credible and timely information on the activities of criminal elements.

    In his response, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi Command CP Akeem A. Yusuf assured the AIG that, the Command will do it best to ensure that, its personnel strictly adhere to the electoral Acts.

    The Commissioner of Police further tasks the Area Commanders, Commanding officers of 37/70/77 PMF as well as Divisional Police Officers to step down the lecture to their respectives personnel and to ensure that the electoral Acts is strictly adhere to.
