    Tinubu inaugurates Nigerian Independent System Operator board

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday officially inaugurated the board of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), in accordance with the provisions of the 2023 Electricity Act, which mandates the unbundling of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

    The inauguration ceremony was held at the Presidential Villa and was carried out by Vice President Kashim Shettima, with Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu also in attendance.

    The newly formed NISO board includes both executive and non-executive members.

    As previously announced, Tinubu appointed Dr. Adesegun Olugbade as the board chairman, while Engr. Abdullahi Bello Mohammed was named Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

    The executive team comprises Engr. Nafisatu Asabe Ali, Executive Director of System Operations; Engr. Shehu Abba-Aliyu, Executive Director of System Planning; Dr. Edmund Eje, Executive Director of Market Operations; and Mr. Babajide Ibironke, Executive Director of Finance and Corporate Services.

    Non-executive members include Engr. Lamu Audu representing Generation, Mrs. Folake Soetan representing Distribution, Tajudeen Giwa-Osagie as a Market Expert, Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz representing Transmission, and Alhaji Mahmuda Mamman, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Power, representing the ministry.
