    Kogi ADP MD,Ogrima calls for more Federal involvement in tackling flood effects in Kogi

    The Managing Director, Kogi state Agricultural Development Agency,ADP,Bello Ogirima has called for more Federal Governnent’s involvement in tackling the effects of flood affected states.

    Ogirima was speaking on Wednesday in Lokoja as the opening ceremony 9f a two days training program for farmers and Extension officers in the art of mitigating flood disaster especially as it affects farmers organized by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,FMARD.

    He said that the need for more efforts on the part of the Federal government is obvious in the face of the devastating effects of the recent flood that ravaged parts of the state recently.

    “It is not enough to give palliatives ,there is need to find permanent solution to the issue of perennial flooding if we want to achieve food security in the country”.

    Although both the state and Federal Governnent have jointly tried in recent time,the Federal government in particular must come up with more concrete efforts to address the issue once and for all.”Ogirima added.

    He urged participants to listen attentively to be well informed enough and be ready to transfer knowledge gathered to fellow farmers.

    Earlier,the senior Agric officer, Mrs Moyo Esther who is the facilitator of the training program said the program was one of various ways designed by the Federal government to mitigate the effects of flood in various communities where is occurred one of which is Kogi state.

    “You are expected to go back to your communities and transfer knowledge gained to fellow farmers and Extension officers at the end of the two training.”
