As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for key meetings of its National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC), elders from the North Central region have expressed their backing for the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
The North Central APC Elders Forum, led by former Senate President Senator Ameh Ebute, has publicly supported Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for his efforts to restore peace within the party. The Forum also endorsed Sule’s recent visit to the APC National Secretariat, where he declared his support for Ganduje.
This support comes amid criticism from some party members in the region who had questioned Governor Sule’s visit to Ganduje and his remarks, which they viewed as a show of confidence in the former Kano governor.
Senator Ebute commended Governor Sule’s actions, calling them a “rightful intervention” that reflects the interests of the party elders in the zone. He expressed satisfaction with Governor Sule’s leadership and his role in repositioning the party for enhanced performance.
The Forum also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Dr. Ganduje for addressing the political turmoil within the Benue State APC, noting that the recent dissolution and reconstitution of the Caretaker Committee had brought peace to both the party and state governance.
Ebute encouraged other APC governors in the zone to follow Governor Sule’s example by maintaining regular contact with the party leadership to strengthen relationships with the central leadership.
Additionally, the Forum praised the Ganduje-led National Working Committee for establishing the National Progressives Institute and urged that the North Central region be included in the Institute’s leadership structure. The elders affirmed their commitment to leveraging the APC for the region’s development and progress.
