The Federal Government has taken decisive action to address public concerns by approving a downward review in electricity tariff for Band A consumers, who receive a minimum of 20 hours of daily power supply.
Effective immediately, Band A customers, previously charged at N225/Kwh, will now pay N206.80/Kwh following the approved tariff revision.
This decision comes amidst widespread criticism from industry observers, civil society organizations, and labor unions regarding the recent tariff hikes, which have been deemed insensitive to consumers’ needs.
Electricity distributors have begun notifying their customers of the tariff reduction, with Ikeja Electric issuing a notice confirming the adjustment. The notice assures customers of 20-24 hours of daily power supply at the revised tariff rate.
It’s important to note that the tariff for Bands B, C, D, and E remains unchanged, providing clarity on the scope of the tariff adjustment.
