Moses Babatope, the co-founder of Filmhouse Group and former managing director of FilmOne, is gearing up to unveil his own media and entertainment company, marking a significant development in Nollywood.

Having departed Filmhouse earlier in April 2024, Babatope is already focused on new endeavors despite speculation about a non-compete agreement.

Addressing these rumors, he clarified, “There are rumors of a non-compete with FilmOne and Filmhouse, but that is untrue.” He emphasized that his aspirations extend beyond personal ventures, aiming to elevate the industry’s stature substantially. “The plan is bigger than Moses Babatope; it’s not just another entertainment venture. The plan is to grow the industry ten times bigger. We’re innovating, disrupting, and creating new revenue lines for the industry,” he stated.

With over two decades of experience in cinema operations and management, Babatope has established himself as a key figure in shaping perceptions of African cinema. His leadership at FilmOne Entertainment and as a co-founder of FilmHouse Group has led to the production and executive production of numerous blockbuster films in Nollywood.

Babatope’s track record includes securing significant global distribution partnerships with major studios like Disney, Warner Brothers, Sony, Netflix, Prime Video, and others. Additionally, he pioneered corporate financing of motion pictures by establishing the West African Film Fund and collaborating with international entities to finance multiple films.

Given his extensive experience and forward-thinking vision, Babatope’s new venture is eagerly anticipated and expected to exert a profound influence on the future trajectory of Nollywood.
