    Oga films, honours outstanding content developers in Kogi

    The Convener of Kogi Social Media Award , Dansofo Usman Jr. has said that Social media and blog platforms should midwife peaceful coexistence in the state and in the country as a whole.

    Addressing a Press Conference in the conference room of Majesty International college Lokoja on Thursday, Usman said that social media and blog platforms should be used to Foster unity and promote security of live and property of the citizens.

    He said that as a way of encouraging social media to focus on creating contents that would promote peace,Oga films in collaboration with Majesty International college Lokoja, will be giving award to some deserving individuals and organisations to encourage them.

    The Convener said the yearly event was established in 2018 to recognise and encourage Kogi citizens to continually promote and create exceptional contents to solve daily critical life problems.

    He disclosed that the organisers have been giving young people a reason to smile whenever they visit their platforms.
    According to him, the social media award among other things is to promote cultural integration, unity/peace among users of these channels and to further enhance social interactions.

    He explained that kogi social Media award is a platform that creates positive change in the society and geared towards promoting favourable social media platforms.

    “This we are doing using the social Media space to gauge Handles from different users by voting online for institutions, groups, corporate organisations and individual categories of their choices in a very transparent and regular manner.

    “The Kogi Social Media Awards (KSMA) recognises excellence in content creation, impact, innovation and is ready to award voted talents in various fields, who have carved a niche for themselves by leveraging the social media platform.
    “KSMA is a platform to honour the brilliant brains and practitioners of blogs that have ensured effective use of social media in promoting their discipline, business, corporate social responsibility to better the lot of humanity.

    “As social media and blogs grow to be the new powerful tool of influence in information communication technology, this event is to connect everyone in highlighting the work of some of the best from the social media fraternity of global and local social media practitioners.

    “The Awards is focused on nominations and entries from all social media users in Kogi state through all the social media platforms.

    Usman highlighted the main vision of the Award to serve as a catalyst for changing the narrative on the social media space, using the platform as a tool for Promoting peaceful coexistence, tolerance and Socio-economic development, thereby contributing to peace, unity, tourism potential, progress and development of Kogi state through social media useful engagements.

    He noted that as part of the package, a pre Award lectures which concern primarily with the use of the social media and influence of education.

    According to him ” The Pre Award Lecture will have three sessions with keynote speakers and resource persons on supporting topics.

    He said the aim of the event is to escalate a paradigm shift from the recent state of mutual suspicion, political rivalry, hate speech, propaganda and mitigating conflict situations on the Kogi social media space, and engaging conversations for the enhancement of healthy growth within the Kogi online community.
