Police Service Commission Disowns Fraudulent Invitation for Recruitment Screening Fee

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has disassociated itself from a misleading invitation circulating on social media, requesting prospective candidates for the Nigeria Police Force’s Constable cadre recruitment to pay a fee of N2000 for the screening process.

The fictitious publication, falsely bearing the name of the Commission, stated that candidates who had been shortlisted for the physical screening on January 8th, 2024, should come with N2000. However, the PSC has clarified that this message is entirely fabricated and misleading.

In a previous press statement, the Commission emphasized that the ongoing recruitment process is completely free, from registration to the final stage, which includes medical examinations. The PSC asserts that there have been no changes that would warrant candidates being asked to bring N2000 for the screening exercise.

Expressing concern over the activities of fraudsters attempting to compromise the recruitment exercise, the Commission warns that it will no longer tolerate such interference. It advises prospective candidates to disregard these misleading messages, as the Police Recruitment Board is currently sending authentic notifications to successful candidates, providing detailed information on the requirements for the screening exercise.

The PSC assures candidates that it will not impose any fees and is committed to conducting a transparent and merit-based recruitment exercise, in compliance with the Federal Character principles. It further urges candidates to resist any temptation to engage in fraudulent activities or shortcuts, as stringent regulations have been put in place to safeguard the integrity of the process.

The Board promises to uphold international standards throughout the recruitment exercise, ensuring that the final selection produces well-trained individuals who will contribute to the realization of a highly efficient and professional police force.
