Tinubu Criticizes Power Sector Privatization: Calls for Urgent Reforms

    Published on

    By Ibrahim Danladi

President Tinubu highlighted the failure of Nigeria’s power sector privatization during the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry roundtable. He noted that, despite being privatized a decade ago, the national grid serves only 15% of the country’s electricity demand. Tinubu emphasized the need for recapitalization of power distribution companies, addressing commercial issues, and enhancing the sector’s investment appeal. He urged stakeholders to collaborate on a clear plan for tariff restructuring, cost recovery, and debt resolution, aiming for a more efficient and accessible power infrastructure in the nation.
