Following the recent verdict by the Court of Appeal, which reinstated him as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva expressed his satisfaction, stating that the judiciary has vindicated itself.

This decision came after a previous ruling by the High Court in Abuja on October 9, which declared Sylva ineligible to participate in the gubernatorial contest due to his prior five-year tenure as the state governor. However, the Court of Appeal overturned this verdict, restoring Sylva as the APC candidate for the upcoming November 11 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State.

Sylva shared his reaction in Abuja after a meeting with the Deputy National Chairman, North, Bukar Dalori, and the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Bashir. He emphasized his confidence in the APC’s victory in the upcoming election, pointing out that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had attempted to prevent his candidacy through legal means, indicating the significance of his position on the ballot. He also noted that the lawsuit, although filed by an individual claiming to be an APC member, was orchestrated by the PDP.
