    NPFL Referees to Receive a 30% Salary Raise for 2023-24 Season

    The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has approved a significant salary increment of 30% for its referees for the upcoming 2023-24 season, with the backing of the league’s strategic partner, GTI Assets Management.

    Gbenga Elegbeleye, Chairman of the NPFL, explained that this salary increase was necessitated by the rising costs of transportation across the country.

    “We are well aware of the repercussions of the removal of fuel subsidies on transportation,” he stated. “It is only fair to provide a 30% raise in allowances for our match officials.”

    The 2023-24 season is set to kick off on Saturday, September 9, with an inaugural match between Shooting Stars (3SC) and Plateau United scheduled to take place at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.
