    41 AFRICAN CENTRAL BANK GOVERNORS TO CONVERGE IN GAMBIA THIS WEEK

    Banjul, 1st August 2022 – The Central Bank of The Gambia is pleased to inform the public that His Excellency Adama Barrow, the President of the Republic The Gambia will preside over the formal opening ceremony of the 44th Ordinary Session of the Association of African Central Banks (2022 AACB Banjul Meetings) from 31st July – 5th August 2022.

    Forty-one (41) Central Bank Governors as well as other senior banking executives and technicians from member-countries are expected to grace the august gathering.

    The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, 4th August 2022. The weeklong event is being held under the auspices of the Central Bank of The Gambia at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center.
    The theme of 2022 AACB Banjul symposium will be: Digital Innovation and the Future of the Financial Sector: Opportunities and Challenges for Central Bank Digital Currencies. The meeting is also expected to further the convergence of African central banks under the African Monetary Cooperation.
