No fewer than forty Security personnel will be mobilised to give coverage to November 11 Governoship election in Kogi state, the Commissioner of police, Bernard Onuoha has said.

The Commissioner of police told our correspondent in an exclusive interview in his office at the state command headquarters in Lokoja that although he will not be able to give the exact figure as at now,but it would not be less than forty-thousand.

“Because the Election is an off season one,we will have enough officers available for mobilisation for effective coverage due to the volatile nature of Kogi Elections”. He said.

He expressed concern about the threat of violence adding that the higher authority have been briefed and they are working tirelessly to make sure that the threats are not actualised.

According to him,”there have been ample evidence that the Election would be volatile in some flash point areas already identified, particularly in Kogi East, such as Olamaboro,Dekina,Ejule and in the Central such as Adavi,Obehira, Obangede and others areas, we would take a close watch to ensure there are peaceful Election.

On efforts being made so far ,the Commissioner of police said that he has me with the Attah Igala, especially, and has assured him that he will be talking to his subjects on the need to be civil before , during and after the election because after Election, they continue to be brothers and sisters and that there will be no gain in creating enmity among themselves because of Election that would come and go.

He said that political parties have also be advised to be civil in their campaigns not use abusive languages and see themselves as one indivisible Kogites.

I have also been meeting with officers and rank and files of all sister Security agencies and everyone has been properly briefed about the role they are expected to play during and after the election.

Onuoha sounded notes of warnings to those who might be planning to forment trouble during and even after the election Election to have a rethink because they will not be given a breathing space to do so.

Reacting to the question about one of the political party’s position of passing a vote of no confidence in his style of policing the state, the Commissioner said that he was not in the state to serve the interest of any individual or political party , but that of the generality of the people at the instance of the inspector general of police and “he is the only one that that can pass judgement on my performance. So as long as the IG is satisfied with my performance,I have nothing to worry about.
