    By David Akpu, Abakaliki

Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, yesterday said he would do a 3-million-man-march for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) by the middle of this month.

He said the state capital, Abakaliki would be locked down during the march.

Umahi spoke at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium Abakaliki during the flag-off of the first phase of his empowerment programme and swearing in of the newly elected Council Chairmen.

More than 3,000 persons are expected to benefit from the empowerment.

He called for issue-based campaign in the 2023 general elections and condemned bitterness and rancor being exhibited by some politicians in their bids to actualize their ambitions.

“By the middle of this month, we will do 3-million-man march for APC in Ebonyi State. We will lockdown the entire capital city.

“I am the Chairman of APC campaign of Southern Nigeria for 2023 elections. Is it not a position of trust? Every Ebonyian is sharing this position with me. Have we not come first in the south?

“The time of campaign is coming and we will demonstrate that trust that the nation Nigeria APC bestowed on us.

“I want to thank Ebonyians for their love, for their support, for their commitment, for their loyalty and for being very honest people”, he stated.

He noted that a total of one billion, eighty four million naira will be disbursed to the first phase of the empowerment, adding that a total of N2.6bn had been earmarked for the empowerment programme.

The Governor said he swore-in the 13 elected Chairmen in the State after seeking the legal opinion of the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Cletus Ofoke which he described as impeccable opinion based on the fundamental constitutional provision of the federal republic of Nigeria.

“All the outgone Chairmen, you came on two year tenure. New ones, you have mounted the seats of leadership and your tenure is two year tenure”, he told the newly sworn-in Chairmen. END//
