In a tragic turn of events, a woman and her son, known only as Chukwuemeka, allegedly beat a 14-year-old boy named Testimony to death in their home on Delta Street, Ayanre, off Ibiye bus stop, Badagry, Lagos. The boy was reportedly punished for misplacing a N1000 note given to him by one of the suspects to buy items at the market.

According to multiple sources, the beating began at 11 pm on Wednesday and continued for several hours until the boy succumbed to his injuries around 1 am on Thursday. A neighbor, who spoke with our correspondent, revealed that the boy’s guardians, who were not his biological parents, locked the doors from the inside, preventing intervention from neighbors.

“Around 6 am on Thursday, the boy was unresponsive, so they rushed him to a nearby hospital. The hospital lacked oxygen therapy, so they brought him back home, worsening his condition,” the neighbor recounted.

The woman then called her prayer partners from church to pray for a miracle, but the boy eventually died. The police arrived around 5:10 pm on Thursday to arrest the woman, who is considered the main suspect in the boy’s brutal beating.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, stated he could not confirm the incident when contacted by our correspondent.

A one-minute and thirty-two-second video shared by an anonymous eyewitness showed the boy’s lifeless body with severe bruises, covered with a cloth in the apartment. A man behind the camera was heard saying, “This is the dead boy with bruises,” while others in the background expressed their disbelief.
