Yekini Nabena, the former National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed the controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s Chicago State University (CSU) certificate as a pre-election issue that has long been resolved.

In a statement released in Abuja, Nabena called on Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, to stop pursuing matters related to Tinubu’s academic records. He argued that Nigerians have moved forward with the current administration’s leadership, and Atiku should not incite pre-election issues that won’t lead to him becoming president.

Nabena advised Atiku to focus on preparing for another presidential contest in 2027, rather than attempting to drag the country backward. He also cautioned the public to be wary of media propaganda from Atiku and opposition parties, emphasizing that the registrar of CSU, Caleb Westberg, never accused President Tinubu of forging the certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
