A 62-year-old grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Akanbi, has disclosed how the lawmaker representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, Senator Saliu Mustapha, came to her aid and saved her daughter’s life.

The woman explained that her daughter, who is a sickle cell patient, had been ill since she was two months pregnant.

She said: “My daughter, Elizabeth, has been with me, and she has not been feeling well since she became two months pregnant. We have tried our best to take care of her, and I have sold many properties, but all had been in vain. We’ve taken her to many hospitals for treatment, and we are always told that she is suffering from shortage of blood.

“As her delivery month approaches, I was hopeless and I keep seeking for help everywhere, After many struggles, a friend of mine told me about an ongoing free medical outreach organised by Senator Saliu Mustapha for his constituents. She gave me N10,000 for transport and I went to the outreach venue in Tanke, Ilorin South Local Government Area with my daughter.

“When I arrived at the venue of the Outreach, I was rolling on the floor, crying and seeking help. A few minutes later, some members of the medical outreach team approached me and asked about my situation, which I explained. I showed them my daughter and I told them about her situation and seek for Senator Saliu Mustapha’s help to save her life.

“Fortunately, the Senator ordered that my daughter should be taken to the hospital to receive immediate treatment. We went to Peacock Hospital around Oke Andi, Ilorin, where she was admitted and started receiving treatment.

“My daughter, Elizabeth, underwent a cesarean section (CS) operation, and she gave birth the day after we arrived at the hospital. She also received treatment for sickle cell, and the baby was well taken care of.

“After some days at the hospital, my daughter and her child were hale and healthy, and the doctor informed me that Senator Saliu Mustapha had covered our medical bills. Not only that, but the Senator’s team from his constituency office also visited us and even took us home after we were discharged.

“With this, Senator Mustapha has saved my daughter and her child’s lives. I sincerely appreciate the Senator for his kind gesture. I have been hearing of his benevolent acts for a long time, but I am happy to be one of the beneficiaries now. I pray to God Almighty to continue to guide and guard him and I wish him success in all his endeavors.” Mrs Ruth said.
