Why’re you troubled we’re supporting Fubara, Tinubu, Omehia tells Wike

Former Rivers State Governor, Celestine Omehia, has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing him of arrogance, disrespect for elders, and an unhealthy obsession with power.

In a statement released on Sunday by his Executive Assistant, Nicholas Amaechi, Omehia reacted to a recent live television interview hosted by Wike in Abuja, during which the FCT Minister allegedly referred to him and other People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders backing Governor Siminalayi Fubara and President Bola Tinubu as “expired politicians and buccaneers.”

Omehia described Wike’s comments as the rantings of a “confused mind,” claiming the former governor’s frustration stems from the collapse of his alleged “third-term” political ambition.

According to him, Rivers people have come to realize that Wike’s political battles are rooted in personal interest rather than the welfare of the state or the South-South region.

He further alleged that Wike had hoped to retain control over the state’s governance and resources but was thwarted when Rivers lawmakers loyal to him failed in an alleged impeachment bid against Governor Fubara.

“I am not a buccaneer, and my capacity to contribute to the growth and development of my state and country remains intact,” Omehia stated. “Why is he so troubled by our support for the governor and the Federal Government? Must we remain at political war long after elections are over?”

Advising Wike to concentrate on his duties in Abuja, Omehia said Rivers State was not missing his presence, adding that the minister’s “excesses, inconsistencies, and hallucinations” had reached what he described as a regrettable peak.
