Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed profound sorrow over the fatal road accident in Maiduguri, which tragically claimed the lives of several young graduates from Borno State University and left others injured.

In a condolence message released by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, on Thursday, Shettima described the incident as a devastating loss for the victims’ families, the state, and the nation.

“The loss of these bright, young lives is not just a loss for their families but for Borno State and our nation,” the Vice President said. “These graduates embodied hope, promise, and aspirations of a brighter future. Their untimely departure leaves an irreplaceable void.”

Shettima, who previously served as Borno State Governor, extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and wished the injured students a swift recovery. He assured them of comprehensive support from both the Federal Government and the Borno State government.

“To the students recovering from injuries, I wish you a swift and full recovery. Be assured that the Federal Government and the Borno State government will provide you with all the needed support,” he stated.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to preventing similar tragedies, Shettima noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is determined to address such issues and protect the nation’s promising youth.

“The government will extend all possible support to ease your burden and honour the memory of these exceptional young individuals. May Almighty Allah grant their souls eternal rest and grant strength to their families to bear this great loss,” Shettima added.

The Vice President’s message highlights the administration’s solidarity with the victims’ families and its resolve to ensure meaningful support during this difficult time.
