Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has again paid glowing tribute to late senator Ifeanyi Uba for his numerous contributions to the development of the state and nation at large.

He promised to immortalize him in view of his legacies within his 52years earthly sojourn.

Soludo spoke at the International Convention Center, Awka where he received thousands of supporters of late Ubah into the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

“We must find a way to immortalize him, even if it’s naming a street after him. The labour of our heroes past can’t never be in vain. For the 52years he spent here, he left legacies.

“Though we’ll have a monument named after him, but the most importantly is continuing on the footprints he left behind.

“With the crowd and the team spirit I’m seeing among, which is similar to that of your principal, I have no doubt that victory is assured and future is bright,” he stated.

While reeling out his developmental milestones, the governor called on the defectors to join hands with his government to sustain the tempo, saying, “Anambra has gone too far to return to Egypt.”

He reiterated his preparedness to do more for the State, noting that he and the late senator had always been friends before his untimely death.

Leader of the defectors, Chuks Kamen Ogbonna urged APGA members to accept them as part of the party, pledging their preparedness to work towards Soludo’s re-election.

“I speak today not just as Kamen Chuks Ogbonna, but as a vessel of a legacy, the legacy of Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah,” he said.

Also speaking, Tempest Udeze said the groups’ decision to join the ruling party was informed by their conviction that Soludo was pursuing most of the programmes the late Senator would have done.

“We have gone on inspection tour of Mr Governor’s projects and are shocked with the quality works he has done in just three years.

“After the outing, we are fully persuaded that Soludo is running most of the programs Senator Ifeanyi Uba would have embarked upon.

“We make bold to declare that we are ready to follow and work for him in the November 8 election,” Udeze said.

The defectors were predominantly from the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Young Progressive Party (YPP)

Among the support groups were Afaigboefuna, Ifeanyi Ubah Women, Ifeanyi Ubah Solidarity Movement and Ifeanyi Ubah Disciples.
