Tyson Fury Mocks Anthony Joshua, Dubois As He Strategizes Against Usyk

As he prepares to battle Usyk for three heavyweight crowns in Riyadh, Tyson Fury, affectionately known as the “Gypsy King,” has chosen to maintain his distinctive boxing style rather than change it.

“I plan to approach it much like I did before, focusing on effective boxing,” Fury said in a TNT interview, underscoring the need of preserving his unique style. I don’t see the need to alter that facet of my game because boxing and evading is quite an accomplishment for someone my size and weight.

In response to popular tactics advocated by supporters and commentators, Fury noted that if those tactics had been simple, competitors like Joshua and Dubois might have won where he wants to win.

“People tell me I have to get up on Usyk, walk him down, and punch him,” the British boxer wrote. “But if it was that simple, why didn’t Joshua, a huge, strong man, do it? What kept Dubois from doing it? Those men are really limited in comparison to me.

“I think a more direct approach is a gift for Usyk,” he continued. I’m going to improve my already successful style—side-on boxing, slipping, and sliding—by focusing even more on this bout.

Discussions over Joshua and Dubois’s responsibilities in the heavyweight division are currently going on, which coincides with Fury’s remarks against them.

In September, Joshua, now 34, lost to Dubois via fifth-round knockout, raising questions about his future.

Keep in mind that, depending on how Fury’s rematch with Usyk goes, trainer Tony Sims has hinted that the long-awaited fight between Fury and Joshua may yet happen.
