Two Bayelsa Reps dump PDP for APC, cite leadership crisis

    Published on

Two members of the House of Representatives from Bayelsa State, Rodney Ambaiowei (Southern Ijaw) and Oboku Oforji (Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma) have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Their letters of defection were read by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during Wednesday’s plenary.

Ambaiowei said he left the PDP because of deepening internal crises and leadership divisions that have made it difficult for him to represent his constituents effectively.

“With this uncertainty, it has become difficult to perform my role and effectively represent my constituency,” he wrote.

Oforji also cited the prolonged PDP leadership crisis but expressed gratitude to the party for giving him the platform to serve.
